Bushings with pattern EKX®


The Material

The material of the bushings EKX consists of three layers, an steel backing strip and a porous matrix in CuSn 10 impregnated and coated with a copolymer of acetyl resin that forms a layer about 0.35 mm. This material consists of good mechanical features of mechanical workability.

Features and Benefits

Requires only a small amount of lubricant to operate satisfactorily.
They have an excellent sliding behaviour.
The material is suitable for rotational movements and oscillatoring.
They have a very low friction during operation.
Superior resistance to wear.
Low sensitivity to marginal load.
Low water absorption.
Excellent damping behavior.
Good mechanical processability.
They may work for very long periods only to the drawing lubricant introduced at initial assembly.

Lubrication

Bushings EKX are additions to the range by inserting between the bushes completely lubricated and non lubricated providing exceptional performance. Require only a small amount of lubricant to operate satisfactorily and can operate for long periods of time drawing lubricant introduced only to the initial installation. If this is not enough you can regreased bushings for appropriate time intervals. The re-lubrication interval is set to half the value of the duration of the bush, if the EKX bushings are greased only at the beginning.

It is recommended that the bushings regreased 6-8 times: the expected last of the sleeve will now be extended by 3-4 times. The application of a sufficient quantity of oil during the lifetime of the sleeve can extend 5-6 times. To lubricate the bushings EKX can be used all kinds of lubricating oil and plastic oil. We recommend in particular the lithium-based lubricant without additives and molybdenum disulfide. Automotive engine oils are not suitable because they can damage the surface, for these reasons it is not recommended to mount EKX bushings in combustion engines and compressors.

Friction

The friction coefficient varies depending on the specific load, on the speed and surface roughness, on the temperature of the bushing and oil used. In the condition of the boundary layer lubrication bushings EKX operate with low friction and the coefficient of static friction varies between 0.015 and 0.15.

Wear

The wear of the bushings EKX varies depending on operating conditions and lubrication method. The initial wear during running-in is small (about 0.0025 with a low load and 0.025 with a greater load), followed by a slow increase in the rate of wear.

The subsequent wear is usually negligible as long as there is a sufficient amount of lubricant. If the bushing is regreased before the wear rate begins to increase rapidly, the material will continue to operate satisfactorily with little wear.
